Contribution

Born in Kundalagrama in ancient Vaishali, Lord Mahavira was a contemporary of Gautama Buddha. He renounced worldly life at the age of 30 and spent years in intense meditation to attain enlightenment. He then preached the path of non-violence (Ahimsa), truth (Satya), non-stealing (Asteya), chastity (Brahmacharya), and non-attachment (Aparigraha). His teachings form the basis of modern Jainism. He attained Nirvana at Pawapuri, another sacred site in Bihar.
