๐Ÿ“– History & Information

Deity: Lord Shiva (Sidheshwarnath / Siddheshwar Nath). History: The temple dates back to the Gupta period around the 7th century CE, though local legend attributes its origin to Bana Raja (the father-in-law of King Jarasandha from the Mahabharata era). Surroundings: It sits right above the famous Barabar Caves, which are India's oldest surviving rock-cut caves dating back to the Maurya Empire (3rd century BCE). Significance: The site attracts massive crowds of pilgrims during the holy month of Sawan (Julyโ€“August), where it is often referred to affectionately by locals as the "Himalayas of Magadh".
